I recently interviewed a Hoboe.
Saturday, February 04 2012
Many years ago, while I was getting my own feet wet in the world of webcomics with S.N.A.T, I made acquaintance with the rather funny artist and writer named Ben Hubbard. He was running a webcomic called Hoboe at the time and through buzzcomix.net, a webcomics community/toplisting website, we were paired randomly for a short collaboration. The resulting absurdity was called SNATCH!.
The product turned out better than I had anticipated. Not because I had doubts about either of our skills, but rather I had not expected such a natural-feeling mesh of the two styles. Visually, his art contrasted mine in that well, he could actually draw. That contrast itself was contrasted by the similarity in our humor. His comic and its characters had a certai…

Sports fans are hilarious.
Sunday, December 05 2010
I've come to perceive sports fans in general as being:
1) Loyal to their team and/or city.
and/or
2) Batshit crazy.
Now, I've learned that I have to be careful with my words on this topic, as amusingly enough, people who are not batshit crazy don't like to be regarded as such. So to be clear, when I talk about retarded Laker fans, I don't mean that ALL Laker fans are intellectually stunted. I'm talking about just the ones who like to riot after winning. If that is still offensive, that's fine. Idiots will be easily offended; I can't do anything about that.
Anyway, I actually love participating in sports. Back before I was a quarter century years old (and chubby), I was quite an athletic person. I remember those high school wrestling practices an…

For those of you who don't know, I lost foohonpie.com years ago to some rather aggressive domain squatters. I've considered it long since gone and had grown to accept that foohonpie.net would forever be my home on the web.
This was always a sad thing for me as foohonpie.com was my first registered domain, my first website, the first home to S.N.A.T., and perhaps most importantly my first vehicle of expression to a community of friends and strangers. To me, as a writer, it's extremely gratifying to have had an opportunity to connect with readers in a w…
a better pyramid
Sunday, January 11 2009
A third into the month and I'm doing alright on my resolution to eat healthier. Still tweaking my diet though, and found this info pretty interesting, if not a bit unsettling.
Particularly, the stuff about the USDA is pretty eye opening. I guess it shouldn't be any surprise that money may have played a significant role in the composition of the USDA pyramid. That thing is plastered all over elementary school classrooms, cereal boxes, etc. Seems it may have been less a nutritional guideline and more a clever if not deceptive marketing campaign for various agricultural industries.
The "Healthy Eating Pyramid", on the other hand, seems to…
